Half Day/Easy – 7 Miles
The tour begins with a mild descent on the Thurmond-Minden Rail Trail, which offers incredible views of the river and the abandoned railroad town of Thurmond. After a brief visit to the historic Thurmond Depot, riders will travel down-river via the South-Side Junction Trail. This trail is part of the historic trek taken by Mary Ingles-Draper after her daring escape from Indian captors in the 1800’s.
Half Day/Moderate – 7 Miles
Need a little more kick? Try the Kaymoor-Cunard Rim Trail. As the name implies, this trip follows the contours of the canyon rim. It offers fast down hills, short climbs, and, of course, fantastic views and historic sites, an excellent addition to an outdoor adventure vacation.
Half Day/Advanced – 7 Miles
Singletrack riding West Virginia style! This is an awesome loop right from the shop. If you’re an avid mountain biker you will love the tight switchbacks, power climbs, screamin’ downhills, and challenging technical sections. This tour is not for the faint at heart.
Full Day/Advanced – 14 Miles
A ride from rim to river, this tour has it all! Spectacular views abound as riders descend and traverse the Kaymoor-Thurmond Trail. Enjoy a quick stop at the abandoned Kaymoor Mine site where guests can view the remnants of the last underground coal mine in the gorge. Approximately halfway through the trip, the cyclists refuel with a delicious riverside picnic lunch. Following lunch, the tour meanders by the New River to the historic town of Thurmond and wraps up with a visit to the Thurmond Depot.
