Youth Groups
If you’re looking for a trip that young people will get excited about, you’ll find it at Rivermen. This is the place where youth groups come to let loose and PLAY WILD!
Now more than ever, you have to be creative when planning trips for today’s kids and young adults. They’ve often ‘been there’ and ‘done that,’ and you need a constant stream of new outing ideas to get them excited and keep them actively involved.
There are huge benefits to stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying new experiences. Not only is it a ton of fun, it also helps young people discover new skills and interests and can give them tremendous confidence. At the Rivermen, trying new things is what we’re all about.
Scout Groups
Scout Groups feel right at home at Rivermen because we have some big things in common: love and respect for nature, a desire to explore and a thirst for adventure. For more than 30 years, Scout Troops and Venturing Crews have looked to the Rivermen for the best outdoor adventures in southern West Virginia. You can count on our top-notch equipment and decades of experience to create unforgettable adventures that your troop or crew members will talk about for years to come. We take fun and safety seriously and pride ourselves in having the most personable and experienced guides in the industry.
If you’re looking for the biggest bang for your adventure buck, you’ll get it at Rivermen. There’s no place where your group will have more fun on the same budget. In addition to dozens of first-class outdoor adventures, you can take advantage of our family campground with earlier quiet times and a youth-friendly atmosphere located ½ mile away from our social campground for night owls.
While at Rivermen, your scouts and crew members can experience a wide range of single-day and overnight whitewater trips as well as other activities tailored specifically to their skill level, such as rock climbing, zip lines, mountain biking, horseback riding and discovery hiking. Many of our whitewater and rock climbing guides are also registered Merit Badge Counselors through the Buckskin Council of West Virginia.
Families
The Rivermen has lots of great things for people of every age, it's true. And family groups are special, because there’s no better bonding experience than an outdoor adventure vacation. You can create a West Virginia vacation full of family fun by combining single or multi-day adventures with a stay in one of our many cabin choices or at one of our beautiful campsites near the New River Gorge. You can also eliminate the hassle of packing and preparing meals by dining at our onsite, kid-friendly restaurants.
We offer rafting for kids as young as 6, rock climbing, horseback riding and fishing for children as young as 8, TimberTrek Aerial Adventure Park for kids down to 7 and biking and zip lines for those 10 and up, so there are plenty of adventures that your entire family can enjoy together. Make sure to leave time for free on-campus fun including sand volleyball, outdoor movies, cornhole tournaments and disc golf.
We have children of our own and understand that safety is a top concern. Our professional guide staff are trained in the latest safety, rescue and first aid techniques and have been guiding outdoor adventures in southern West Virginia since 1972. We use the finest adventure equipment and treat you as an extension of our family during your stay.
Couples
When did you last spend some real quality time with your main squeeze? Life can be demanding, and it’s not difficult to get tangled up in hectic schedules at home, work and school. For couples who enjoy spending time outdoors, our adventure resort is a unique place to reconnect and enjoy a lot of excitement and a little romance. Dinners by candlelight are great, but evenings by campfire are even better. And our guided adventures are perfect for couples because your guide is the instructor which alleviates the tension that can come from learning something new from your significant other. We’ll teach you both everything you need to know, and you can just focus on having a blast.
Whether this is where they first met, where they got engaged, where they tied the knot, Rivermen has been part of countless love stories. Many of these lovebirds return each year to celebrate special anniversaries with us. Maybe it’s our amazing sunsets over the New River Gorge, the bonding that happens as you experience nature together, the warmth of a crackling campfire or our stunning starry night skies. Girlfriend Getaways
Every woman needs a little time to hang out with just the girls. If you want to infuse your next girls' getaway with a little outdoor adventure, don’t let our name fool you. Rivermen is as great an escape for the girls as it is for the guys. You can let your hair down and PLAY WILD like no one is watching!
For many women, a great adventure vacation needs more than big thrills in the great outdoors. Relaxing in beautiful surroundings, tasting local cuisine, sampling the nightlife and sleeping comfortably are equally important, and Rivermen has it all.
Get the girls together for an exhilarating ride on TreeTops Canopy Tour, or spend the day basking in the sunshine while kayaking at Summersville Lake. Behold the stunning sunset over the New River Gorge from our private overlooks, our sparkling swimming pool or either of two outdoor dining decks while indulging in amazing food and your favorite beverage. In the evening, the Rendezvous Lodge is perfect for “Girls Night Out” where you can mix and mingle around the group fire circle or play volleyball, cornhole or a game of pool. When it’s time to turn in, Rivermen provides lodging from five stars to under the stars, so exactly how much you want to “rough it” is entirely up to you.
Corporate Groups
If you're looking for a unique teambuilding activity, a new incentive for your corporate performance management program, a refreshing change from the traditional company picnic or perhaps just a new setting for your next department meeting, Rivermen has exactly what you need.
We have been the ‘go to’ destination for many corporate teambuilding retreats because our guided adventures inherently require intense group participation. Co-workers will have to work together as a team and focus their mental and physical energy to overcome obstacles and achieve a common goal, and they’ll have a blast along the way. In addition to teambuilding adventures like whitewater rafting, zip lines and rock climbing, we can also develop a customized Team Challenge program for your group that places added emphasis on group problem-solving and effective communication skills.
But believe it or not, it’s not all fun and games at Rivermen. When corporate groups need to get down to business, we also have meeting facilities that can accommodate up to 185 people. Audio visual equipment is available for rent if you forget something or just don’t want the hassle of bringing your own. And with onsite catering services, Rivermen can accomodate just about any food and beverage request, from snack services to three-course meals.
